Teton Valley Aquatics welcomes new Executive Director

Driggs, ID – The Teton Valley Aquatics board of directors is pleased to welcome Stacy Stamm as the organization’s new executive director. 

Stamm’s background includes a master’s degree in Biomechanics from the University of Alberta and several years developing footwear for Nike. Most recently, Stamm led the Grand Targhee Resort Activity Center.

The announcement comes as Teton Valley Aquatics (TVA) moves forward with two major projects this summer: 1) the construction and operation of a new portable pool for children’s swim lessons in Driggs and 2) securing land and drilling a geothermal well for a proposed Aquatics Center off Ski Hill Road. 

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Stamm’s passion and experience at the helm of Teton Valley Aquatics during this crucial time,” said TVA board chair Barb Beller. “We’re closer than ever to our goal of building a new Aquatics Center. In the meantime, the new portable pool will allow us to expand our swim lesson and water safety programs for local children.” 

Stamm is an accomplished swimmer. Her aquatics experience includes eight years as a synchronized swimmer, five years lifeguarding, and several years competing on masters swim teams.

Stamm said she’d love to help build a public swimming facility where Teton Valley residents can enjoy similar swimming experiences. 

“I am eager to work with the City of Driggs and Teton Valley Aquatics board to bring a year-round aquatics facility to Teton Valley,” she said. “Expanding year-round recreation opportunities to include swimming will be a huge boon to our community.”

Stamm and her husband moved to Teton Valley in 2018 in order to be closer to the mountains. She and her husband recently finished construction of a home in Darby. 

In 2020, TVA suspended public programming due to the Covid-19 crisis. However, in 2019, TVA served over 500 children across 3 water safety education programs, including Winter Sports Learn-To-Swim, Josh the Otter Water Safety Education Program and the first Community Learn-To-Swim program. TVA also installed 3 Lifejacket Loaner Stations on the Teton River in partnership with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation in 2019. TVA also completed the Aquatic Facility Feasibility Study in partnership with the City of Driggs. More recently, TVA worked with researchers from Idaho National Laboratory to determine whether geothermal energy could be used power the proposed Aquatic Center.
